Properties of 2D and 3D shapes

Children have continued their learning of 2D and 3D shapes this term. They have learnt the properties of 3D shapes using the vocabulary, vertices, edges, flat face and curved face and they have sorted, compared and ordered 3D shapes according to their properties.

We have started our learning of fractions this week by looking at how a fraction has to be equal. We used 20 cubes to see how many equal groups we could make. The children realised that they could make 2 equal groups of 10 and then 10 equal groups of 2, then they made groups of 5 and groups of 4.
