Week 3
Maths
In maths we have been looking at the 5 counting principles. We have been recognising that each counting number is one more than the one before and understanding the one more than/ one less than relationship between consecutive numbers.
Literacy
This week we have been looking at a non-fiction book called What can live in the snow? The book looks at cold regions of the world and the animals and plants that inhabit these cold places. We have been looking at the features of a non-fiction book. The children have been starting to create their own non-fiction books about these cold places.
Expressive Art and Design
We have continued with our watercolour paintings of polar regions this week. We have been looking at the colours we can use to show these cold landscapes.
Understanding of the World
In science this week we have been using maps and globes to find the polar regions of the world. We used Google Earth to zoom in on the Arctic and Antarctic.
