Spring 1 Week 1

We have all come back refreshed from our Christmas break.  The children have enjoyed telling us all about their presents from Father Christmas and the time they have spent with the families.

In literacy this week we have been reading the story Yucky Worms.  The children have loved the story and enjoyed learning lots of interesting facts about worms.

In maths this week we have been looking at 'more' and 'less'.  The children have been comparing two sets of objects and talking about which has more and which has less and explaining their reasoning.

We have been reading the story Tree Seasons Come, Seasons Go and looking at the year of the tree in the story.  We have been talking about the changing of the seasons and how the tree changes throughout the year. The children have been drawing on their own experiences of the changes in weather and things they notice in the world around them.

In science we have been on a Winter walk.  We have been looking and talking about the things we can see, hear, feel and smell whilst outside.  We talked about the things that have changed since we went on our Autumn walk last term.

We have also been looking for worms in the garden and set up our ow wormery in class so we can watch the worms tunnelling through the layers of soil and sand.
