Believe. Aspire. Succeed.
In Maths this week we explored parts and the whole by asking questions in our group like ... Do you like carrots? We then put a counter in the yes bowl or the no bowl. Our whole was the same every time but our parts were different. Our Year 1 children moved on to looking at parts and whole on a part whole model. They chose a number and then split it into parts in different ways. By the end of the week, we were writing this as a number sentence.
In Geography this week, we had a walk around Coningsby to post our letters. We also took note of all the things we could see, came back to the classroom and drew them on a map!
Our amazing DT work this week!
In science this week, we discussed suitable materials for different objects. We used a spinner to choose an object and then used another spinner to choose the material. We had some very interesting combinations such as a glass car or a paper water bottle. We discussed the properties of these materials and why they wouldn't be very suitable!
In Maths this week, our Year 2 children have been using tens and ones to add a 2-digit number and a 1-digit number.
