Coningsby St Michael's Church of England Primary School
Believe. Aspire. Succeed.
This term we are looking at The Lost Happy Endings.
We will be writing a narrative and poem inspired by this wonderful tale.
Today 20.2.24 we explored images from the book and stepped inside the pages. We thought about what we could; see, hear, touch and smell in the images and freeze framed some of the images within our groups. Here are some pictures of the children hard at work exploring our text.
We have been writing some incredible myths and will be creating instructions on How to Train a Dragon, thinking about what their individual dragon will be like and what skills and techniques will work for their dragon.
Our English text for Term 2 is;
'When a polar bear arrives unexpectedly in the woods, the other animals fear and avoid him, suspecting him to be dangerous - and his odd habit of collecting leaves only adds to their distrust. Then one day, they watch as he attempts to fly over the water with wings made of colourful leaves... trying to get back home. Perhaps he isn't so different after all?'
From this beautifully illustrated book, our two writing outcomes this term will be to narrate and to inform.
We will create an 'Outsider' narrative and writing to inform about Polar Bears. Watch this space to see how our writing progresses through the term.
