This week year 1 and 2 have been learning how to use number lines to help with addition.
Year 1 children have been using tens frames to build number sentences using subtraction.
Year 2 have been using part whole models, number bonds and number lines to start their work on subtraction.
Year 1 have been practising using number lines to subtract.
Year 2 have been practicing subtracting 10's from a 2 digit number by using dienes.
Year 2 children have been subtracting 2 digits from 2 digits without crossing 10 by using dienes and pictorial representations to help them solve calculations.
Year 1's have been using counters to build arrays and using vocabulary of columns and rows to describe them.
Year 2's have been drawing arrays and writing multiplication sentences to represent them.
Year 1 children have been looking at repeated calculations and seeing if they can make arrays with them.
Year 2 children have been looking at odd and even numbers, they had to prove which numbers were odd and why.
We have started our learning of division by sharing and using the vocabulary.
There are 6 altogether.
There are 2 groups.
There are 3 in each group.
Year 2 have also started their learning of division by using sharing to find the answer to division calculations.
Year 1 have continued their learning of division using grouping.
Year 2 have been solving division problems using the concept of grouping.
