Term 6
This term our church school value if truthfulness.
We will be exploring this value through questions such as:
What does it mean to be truthful?
Are you always truthful?
What happens when you don't tell the truth?
How do you know who to trust?
What does Jesus teach about truth?
We will also be focusing on The story of Zacchaeus the tax collector Luke 19 v1-10 as our Bible story of the term.

Year 6 created their own animations using the website flipanim

In computing the children have been creating animations using the website flipanim. The children had to present either an eye blinking, a flower growing or a light turning on and off.
In science this week we have been making our own switches out of match boxes and clothes pegs to open and close a circuit.
In maths this week we have been using multilink cubes to explore volume.
In science this week we have been designing our own garden centres. Children had to place the plants given into different areas of the building according to their characteristics.
In science we have started our new topic of Living things and their habitats. Today we looked a classification and grouping. Children were given sweets to place into their own labelled groups.
In Maths this week we have created double page spreads about decimals, percentages and fractions.
In computing this week we have started to use Scratch to make animated stories.
In French we have been learning the numbers to 12. Have a look at our French .
To complete our Geography learning about deserts we have some visitors from Boston college who came to share some animals with us who live in the rainforest and desert.
Term 3
We will use questions to explore compassion such as:
What is compassion?
How do you show compassion?
How have you shown compassion to others?
We will also use the bible story of Jesus feeding the 5000 to support in exploring the church school value of compassion.

Over the past few weeks we have been building up to writing a discovery narrative in the third person based on the exploration and discoveries of Charles Darwin.
Have a read of some of the narratives that the children have produced.
We have loved playing handball this tem in PE. The improvement in the children's skills has been amazing!
In Science (biology) we have been looking at how animals adapt to their environment. We discussed Darwin's work on the finches of the Galapagos' Islands and which beak shape would be best to pick up different foods. .
In PE we have been doing gymnastics. We have really come a long way in a short period of time with our headstands and handstands.
This week we had a STEM afternoon with the local RAF. Children were asked to design a "carbon zero" RAF base. They thought about how vehicles could be powered, accommodation, growing their own food and much more. They considered how they would do this using geothermal, wind, solar, hydro and biomass energy.
In RE this week we took a visit to our local church to look at some of the key Christian artifacts we could find.
In science this week we looked at a visual demonstration of how the digestive system works.
Week 3. In science this week our class have been looking at the circulatory system and making our own life size model. Lots of key vocabulary will be added to show the arteries and veins and how they carry oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.
We have had a great gymnastic lesson this week! We were looking at travelling and balances.
