Week 4

British Science Week

On Tuesday this week we welcomed parents in to EYFS to join in science based activities related to our work this term.  We were going to go out in the school grounds to look for signs of Spring, growing and changing plants and minibeasts in their habitats but unfortunately the weather was against us!  We stayed inside and sketched and painted Spring flowers which the children enjoyed and completed various activities related to lifecycles, especially that of a butterfly, which we are doing in literacy this week and drew minibeasts.  It was wonderful to be able to share this with our parents.

Literacy

This week we are reading the non-fiction text Lifecycles Caterpillar to Butterfly. The children have been talking about the metamorphosis of the caterpillar to a butterfly. We have been using the contents page to find information and the glossary to find out definitions of new words we have found in the texts.

Maths

We have been making and representing our repeating patterns using drawings and stickers. We have been giving these patterns cards to a friend for them to make the patterns.
