Literacy

This week we have continued with the non fiction text What lives in the snow?  The children have been using the contents page to find out specific information.  This week we have been looking at the words in the text that are in bold.  We have been finding out why they are written like this and what the glossary is in the book.  

The children have made their own non fiction books and have been adding descriptive words and sentences to the books. 

Maths

In maths this week we have been adding one more than a given number and finding one less.  We have been doing this using number lines, objects on a tens frame and working out the answer mentally in our heads.  

Science

In science this week we have been answering the question: What is ice?  The children enjoyed holding ice cubes and talking about what was happening as time passed.  The children were able to make excellent observations about what was happening and why.  

Blackfriars Theatre Group

This week we have been fortunate to have been part of a whole school drama project with Blackfriars Theatre Company.  The children have been part of a whole school performance, they have taken part in drama workshops and learnt a song with actions.
