Literacy

This week we have started the book Handa's Hen.  It is a beautiful story set in Kenya.  This book is a wonderful contrast to our last story Lost and Found which was set in the Antarctic.  The children have been looking at the animals in the story and devising their own questions to find out more about these animals.  

Maths

This week we have been making 8 in different ways.  We have been using a variety of different concrete items and numerals to show 8.  We have also been looking at putting different things into pairs.  The children have been sorting socks, matching gloves and putting animals into pairs.  

NSPCC Number Day

On Friday the children came in their own clothes that had numbers on and we spent the day doing lots of fun number activities. The children enjoyed looking for numbers around school, making patterned fish, and making and decorating stars.
