Literacy

This week we have continued with the story Lost and Found.  The children have enjoyed making story maps and writing about the story.  The children have been acting out parts of the story and creating their own adventures using the boat.  

Maths

In maths we have been looking at different ways to show 6, 7 and 8.  We have been using equipment in the classroom to sort objects into sets and then finding alternate ways to show the quantities by using Numicon, numerals and our fingers.  

Understanding of the World

This week we have been out in the garden in the cold weather.  The children discovered ice in different places in the garden and we talked about how the ice formed and why.  We then did an experiment with two coloured ice blocks.  We placed one inside the classroom near the heater and the other outside near the climbing frame.  We watched what happened throughout the day and the children then recorded their findings and talked about what they found out.
