Today in English, Otters looked at the illustration in our story where the family are packing to leave. We created a role on the wall thinking about the mothers emotions and how her body may be reacting to the situation. We then created a role play of this scene, thinking about how to portray these emotions as well as the dialogue between the characters.

We have begun term 5 by looking at our new text 'The Journey' by Francesca Sanna. We have had lots of great discussions about the images in the text and created freeze frames to portray these illustrations.

This week in English, we have been using our text 'Leaf' to write sentences with fronted adverbials and prepositions. The children have produced some beautifully descriptive writing, some of which you can listen to on our dojo page.

Otter class are beginning to plan and write an 'Outsider Narrative' from the perspective of the polar bear in this terms text. We will think about how the polar bear feels, arriving at this unknown place with the other animals in the story feeling intimated and scared by him. Eventually, the other animals begin to accept and listen to the polar bears story and help him get back to where he belongs.
