This term children are learning all about festivals that are celebrated by different religions. First we looked at the Christian festival of Harvest then we compare this to the Indian Festival of Harvest. This week we have been learning all about the Jewish Festival of Sukkot which is a Harvest Festival celebrated by people who belong to the Jewish faith. Today children built their own Sukkah. Sukkah is a Hebrew word for a kind of tent. The festival of Sukkot is a time to remember how thousands of years ago the Jewish people wandered the desert, trying to find a place to live. Along the way, they built tents out of palm leaves and branches to live in. The children used twigs, stones and moss to build their own.
