ELSA

What is ELSA?

ELSAs are emotional literacy support assistants. who have had special training from educational psychologists to support the emotional development of children and young people in school

Ms Williams is trained in ELSA and part of her role is to help the children and young people with being able to understand their emotions, to learn to respect the feelings of those around them, and to learn new skills or coping strategies to support themselves.

She provides the time and private space for pupils to think about their personal circumstances and how they manage them, the intervention can be 1-1 or in small groups.

The ELSA programme will usually last for 6 to 12 weeks,
