Can I partition numbers?

In maths year 2 have been learning how to partition a two digit number into 10's and 1's.

Can I represent numbers in different ways?

In year 1 children have been representing numbers in different ways. They drew it, wrote the number in numerals, wrote the number in words then made the number using a tens frame.

In year 1 children had to pick a number and represent it in numerals and place value counters.

In Maths the Year 2 children were exploring place value grids and how to use them, they identified the ones in a number and the the tens. They then built the number.

Year 2 have been representing 2 digit numbers in as many different ways as possible. They wrote it in numerals and words, drew dienes and used place value, part whole models and bar models.

In year 1 children have been using number tracks to help them to learn how to count backwards.

In year 2 children have been comparing objects using comparative vocabulary and symbols.

In year 1 children started off by comparing objects using the vocabulary more than, fewer than and the same as using three bears, mummy bear, daddy bear and baby bear. They then used dice and dominoes to compare numbers.

In year 1 children have been using part whole models to see how many different ways they can make a whole number.

Can I find different ways to make 10?

In year 1 children worked in pairs to solve an NRICH challenge were they had to look for pairs of number bonds that match and start filling in the big triangle.

Can I add a 2 digit number and a 1 digit number crossing 10?

In year 2 children have been using place value charts to see what happens when they add 2 numbers together crossing 10.

Can I identify number bonds to 10?

In year 1 children have been using part whole models and counters to find all the number bonds to 10.

Can I add 2 numbers together?

In year 1 children have been using part whole models to add 2 one digit numbers together.

Can I subtract using a part whole model?

In year 1 children have been using completed part whole models to work out subtraction calculations.
