Year 2 End of year Expectations

In English we are looking at the books....

With so many Mr Men and Little Miss books, we are going to have a lot of fun exploring these different books as well as different characters!
We will look at designing our own Mr Men, using noun phrases to describe what the Mr Men look like, begin to look at writing instructions to find the Mr Men who are hidden in the Mystical Garden and then begin to think about what Mr Men land looks like by using our own ideas to design the land. We will look at writing questions whilst hot seating a character and take our time to write own own story for our own Mr Men character!

Our topic this term is...

What would it be like to be a Victorian?

This term we will go back in time to the Victorian period.
The children will get the opportunity to explore what is was like to attend a victorian school, identify things that have changed in school since then , explore victorian toys and our significant other who we will be looking at is Florence Nightingale. In our Art lessons we will begin looking at portraits and self portraits and use charcoal to create a portrait picture of Florence Nightingale. Watch this space for pictures of our amazing portraits!

Our church school value this term is....

We will be looking at key questions around friendship this term in our collective worship time in a morning.
We will think about;

  • Why are friends important to you?
  • Are you a friend of Jesus? What does Jesus want his friends to do?
  • What are the qualities of a good friend? Who is a role model on how to be a good friend
  • What should we do when we disagree? How can we protect and mend friendships?
  • What does it mean to belong to a community of friends?

Our bible story of the term is John 15. v 12-17- Jesus' commandment to his friends.

European Languages Day

In KS1 we looked at the french language. We started by looking at some basic classroom phrases and then moved on to finding out some facts about France.
We then used these facts to write on our own French flags and waved these whilst singing a french nursery rhyme Frere Jacques.

Use the link to continue to keep practicing the song.
